Diligent's History

We Began With the End In Mind
...A Simple, Intuitive Board Portal

Diligent's History

Diligent Boardbooks® was created to simplify the lives of Directors, General Counsels, Executives and Administrators by streamlining and simplifying the entire process of compiling, viewing and archiving board and committee materials.

The Boardbooks Development Timeline

The development of the Diligent Boardbooks product began in 2000 when SunAmerica Funds requested a solution to automate the management of its board meeting papers. The SunAmerica Funds instruction was simple:

  • "Please help us build a web-based system to simplify and centralize the
    delivery of board materials."
  • "It must be totally secure."
  • "Most importantly, we need to keep it really simple and totally flexible."

SunAmerica Funds paid to have a working concept produced and, after using it and testing it, agreed to become a licensee of the first commercial version.

Boardbooks Testing & Establishing Its Client Base: 2002—2006

With SunAmerica Funds as an anchor user, Diligent Boardbooks was focused on helping industries which had to deal with the implications of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and those companies whose board materials were extensive and time consuming to produce.
